I know that I am not the only one that cringes at the sight of needles — bracing myself for the many sticks that I believe that I am about to encounter at the physician’s office because of my small veins. Alternatively, how about having every vein readily available to poke but the phlebotomist that you have is unable to get a right stick. Now you are bracing yourself for that next stick only to be praying to the Lord above “Jesus please allow them to get this stick.” Yes, it very well may be from the lack of water you have drunk but it could also be from an inexperienced phlebotomist who has ruined the chances of you being the least bit optimist about another blood draw.

Then YaLauna O’Neal happens! You are greeted with a warm welcome and smile. For a second you forget about any phobia’s you may have about being pricked multiple times. She inquires about the reason for your visit and ensures she becomes acclimated with any past or present experiences of your blood being drawn. Putting you at ease that she is more than capable of successfully drawing your blood.  Not ever placing the patient in a situation where they are hurt or uncomfortable. With their last remark being “You are amazing, I didn’t feel a thing.”  That was my sentiments exactly when she drew my blood.
